Welcome to the Blog of Quattro Animal Physiotherapy, run by me, Genevieve Kirk!
It is a pleasure to have you here and to be embarking on this journey to hopefully help, educate, treat and be a part of your lives with your precious four-legged family.
Since moving to Balmain in Sydney, Australia, I have seen the start a lifestyle as good as if not better than I hoped it could be. I loved the life I had in Cheltenham, working in my own stables every day with my horses and with fantastic people around me. Horses have taken a precedence for the last decade of my life, because I fell in to the trap, as so many young adults do, that I needed to make it happen immediately or I was an utter failure. As it turns out, looking after myself and keeping my horizons broad brings as much joy as the dreams I have with my riding does.
Growing up, we moved a lot. When we reached Perth, Australia I was about 8 years old, and we welcomed out first non-rodent pet to the family; a delightful MaltesexShihtzu called Minty. She grew up with us through another move; to Geneva, Switzerland, and entertained and comforted me through so many memories of growing up there. She lived to be 16 years old, and aside from a very unlucky run-in with a large Briard where she lost her eye, we were incredibly lucky with how fit and strong and uninjured she was in her body. My appreciated of dog injuries was actually incredibly naive, as most of that learning seemed to have been taken up by the horses and the injuries they are so good at developing!
During my degree at Harper Adams University, we regularly had dogs in lectures, and of course in the many clinical sessions where we developed keen observational and treatment techniques. Part of my work experience was at Clent Hills Pet Fitness and Rehab centre in Bromsgrove, where I had the ENTERTAINING job of swimming with dogs... they were some FUN (albeit it often cold!) days.
Now, I have the joy of seeing dogs so regularly exploring the Inner West of Sydney, and I cant wait to get started helping them reach goals; getting stronger, getting more comfortable, getting thinner and most importantly: getting healthier!
Looking forward to getting to know you all!
